Everybody wants to be praised, but it is best if it comes from someone else.
Ever observed a informal discussion. Everybody intentionally or unintentionally tells his/her own incidents where he/she is the centeral character. ( I would call it the "me" syndrome)
Try avoiding talking too much about yourself. Once in a while it may look fine since it is not intentional, but if you do it often, then the other person would lose intrest or assume that most of it may not be true. Even if you are not lying, it may sound like bragging.
Most people would argue that you need not worry about what others think of you, but when you are in a conversation, do keep in mind the intrests of the audience.
