- Boil 1 cup of toor dal and water in pressure cooker (until 2 whistles)
- Place the cooking pan on the stove. Add very little oil (2-3 spoons).
- After the oil has heated up, add Jeera (Cumin), Mori(mustard), grated Ginger and chopped Garlic (1 piece).
- Finely chop 1 onion and add it to the pan
- Add a little bit of salt
- After the onions have fried (colour changes to golden), add the finely chopped tomoto (1 tomato)
- After the whole thing has fried well, add little sambhar powder and let it fry for some more time
- Add 1 cup of water and 1 tsp tamrind powder and small quantity of Jaggery
- Add the toor dal (which was boiled in the pressure cooker)
- Let it boil for few more minutes.
- The toor dal can be eaten with rice or roti
